Gretchen Elsner is an American writer, artist, designer and pop-up book maker fromAthens,Georgiacurrently living and working on a small island off the western coast ofCanada. She is a performing artist in the presentations of her book works, and has traveled widely acrossNorth Americagiving theatrical readings and offering her audiences encounters with the universes with in her clothing, costumes and book arts. Since coming toCanadashe has worked as the fashion director of The Ayden Gallery, a contemporary art gallery in Vancouver, and also a researcher at SimonFraserUniversityworking in the development of electronically active textiles and "soft-wearÓ able arts and garments. Her ready to wear recycled clothing pieces are each distinct and unique, signified by her hand knitted labels, and can be found in galleries and shops across North America and inEurope.
